@jrconlin @mossop all these good thoughts and questions the compiler put in your heads. and even for free! :D heap allocations, mutation, hash operations, null/empty checks. I know it’s all super verbose and annoying but I really think this is also Rust’s strength. So much preferable over runtime errors imho

@mossop yup it’s quite verbose. Sometimes the distinction from None to empty String to literal is quite important though. Not for most higher level applications admittedly:-))

@mossop fastest way from string to str is to borrow. How about play.rust-lang.org/?version=st?
If you need to compare with various literals, a match pattern would be much better.

Had to fill out the customer survey for an online conference which asked for my business address.

I used "301 Carl Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94089"

That's the Sunnyvale Recycling Center.

I figured I can cut out a few middle-folk that way.

@asante @Staubfinger also mein Client sagt sowas ist immer nur server-lokal bekannt und wird nicht gesyncht.

Trying to build a small infosec/websec group, so the β€žmastodon local timeline" is always interesting.
Here’s to security.plumbing πŸ₯‚

I just changed names on mastodon. Allegedly, I can just redirect all my followers. Interesting.
